Introducing the team behind YANA

Realising the growth that YANA has experienced, meant it was time to review the charities needs. Ensuring our ability to continue to deliver the vital services with the right people in the right roles remains. Let us introduce you to the new team.

A change in leadership

In 2024 we said a huge thank you to Henry Kilvert for leading YANA as it established itself as an East Anglian charity over the last four years.

Welcoming Tom Streeter, current Chair of Trustees, who has taken up the role with enthusiasm and passion for the next phase of YANA’s service to our agricultural communities.

Appointed managers take on new roles

We appointed two managers who support the Charity Director and oversee the day to day administration of the YANA.

Nicola Gates, Operations Manager

Nicola works four days a week (Monday – Thursday) and brings with her first hand experience of agriculture, charities, and poor mental health. With a passion for making a difference through the operational functions of the charity, she oversees our mental health training, liaises with fundraisers, and manages our Volunteer Officers, plus much more.

Claire Atherton, Helpline Manager

Claire works 15 hours per week, managing the helpline team (staff and volunteers). With lived experience of suicide loss, agriculture, and as a trained Counsellor she is well placed to support the helpline team in its delivery of support.

New roles for volunteering support

We were delighted to receive funding* which enabled us to recruit two Volunteer Officers – one for Norfolk and one for Suffolk. These roles are pivotal in our ability to work closely with our volunteers, providing the support, training, and communications needed in an efficient and timely manner.

Heather and Deborah work part time hours, generally Tuesdays and Thursdays, and are the first point of contact for all YANA volunteers and will be responsible for recruitment, training, support and ongoing communication.

If you have any questions about volunteering with YANA in the meantime please do contact them by email, volunteer@yanahelp.org.

Deborah Thomas, Volunteer Officer Suffolk
Heather Stabler,
Volunteer Officer Norfolk

New roles strengthen YANA

These additional roles enable the existing team to fulfil their roles with more focus and greater vision. The full team now in place is shown in the image below.

As we focus on developing our volunteer teams across East Anglia, we expect to build our capacity for events, giving talks, and on our helpline team.

Do get in touch if volunteering at YANA is of interest to you by emailing us.

*YANA is thankful to The Talent Fund and Suffolk Community Foundation for funding our Volunteer Officer roles for 12 months.

We are delighted to appoint Letty Glaister as a trustee of the charity.
