A warm welcome

A new face leads YANA forward

Last year we welcomed four new trustees to support the work of YANA from a strategic and governance stance.

We are thrilled to see them fully embrace all that YANA is and more. This year has seen our Trustees working together to build the structure and capacity that is required to continue our support for more people across East Anglia.

With this in mind, we are delighted to introduce our newly appointed Chair of Trustees, Tom Streeter.

An Essex Farmer

Tom is an arable farmer from Essex, bringing experience in managing change in charity structures and secured financial longevity.

An asset to YANA and our future, we look forward to seeing this develop under his leadership for the purpose of improving mental health and addressing suicide in agriculture.

YANA is making a difference

Tom explains “Having grown up in a rural area, and around farming, I have seen the pressures that this work can have on individuals, as well as families and colleagues.

For all the idealistic perceptions from those outside the industry, there is a statistic within farming that is still on the increase.

Suicide rates remain one of the highest in agriculture and rural areas.

The highs that come from producing quality food bring with them the lows that can come with failure from outside influences.

YANA provides remarkable support through the helpline and funded counselling, along with mental health training and awareness.

With the dedicated and experienced Staff and Volunteers, we can continue to let anyone within the East Anglian Rural Communities know we are here, and we can help.

The extraordinary legacy created by those that started YANA has given a platform for present Trustees to secure the future of YANA: a charity that can and is really making a difference.”

New faces on the way

This month we see the arrival of an Operations Manager and part time Helpline Manager who will play a key role in supporting the Charity Director as she stands with Tom and leads the charity forward.

Look out for updates on these new members of the YANA team in the coming weeks.
